Starburst Scale

Ok.  For those who are unaware, I ♥ scary movies.  To an extend that some people think is weird.  However, luckily for me, Gibs feels the same way about these dark masters of terror.  We are one in the same.  We've seen all the classics.  We know all the "rules".  In real life, when something questionable happens (a flickering light or an unexplainable happening), we know better than to "investigate".  We wouldn't run upstairs.  We wouldn't call "Who's there?!" into the darkness after a creepy sound is made.  We wouldn't mock an ancient religious relic we find on vacation.  And so on.  You get the picture.

So in celebration of the awesomeness of Halloween and October and whatnot, we had a "Date Night".  We do this occasionally.  Get together and someones house and watch movies, order food, and chit chat.  But we made a day of it.  It was SERIOUS.

We had a nonsensical theme.  I made a flyer.  We had a movie rating SYSTEM!

I'll back up.  After emailing most of the day in anticipation of this event, we decided that Sarah wouldn't be watching the OSU/Tech game that day.  I say "we", SHE decided, lol.  She said something in reference to the "Bros before hoes" phrase.  Which put a bug in my head in regards to naming our upcoming escapade.  We settled on "Shackle before the Tackle".  Which doesn't even make sense.  It was supposed to mean.. um.. you know... scary shackles, being held captive kinda before...you know... football.

ANYway, so that was that.  I showed up at 3pm last Saturday with 6 movies and she had 6 or 7.  What were we to do.  I had to be home before noon the next day.  We couldn't watch all of them!  What a dilema!

Except it wasn't.  Thanks to a conviniently close bowl of starburst.  We laid out ALL the movies on the coffee table.  Then we took turns placing a starburst on a movie we wanted to watch THAT night.  Which was a GREAT idea.  Except we soon realized that we hadn't set a LIMIT on the number of movies we'd each pick, LOL.  We settled on 3 each and continued.  It was intense.  Especially those last picks.  We ended up picking a "bonus" movie in case we had time.  We didn't, but that's ok.
{If you look closely, you can see the starburst marking the choosen}

We went through almost 2 bottles of wine when the first movie was over.  We had to get more.  Sarah suggest at first that we get 6 more bottles, lol.  She had some serious faith in our livers.  We got 4 though.  And didn't make it through one of those, lol.  We say a man dressed as Santa walking down the street.  We ate deep dish pizza and chatted about life and her upcoming wedding and such.  We became weirdly attached to a postcard {I'll leave out the details}.

The night ended with us lying in her bed {we had tiredly agreed to move upstairs as we were struggling to stay awake} and watching Black Christmas on her laptop.  Before we started the movie, there was some fiesta sounding rukus across the street in a parking lot.  LOUD.  We commented on it but that was about it.  5 minutes later, we felt compelled to check it out.  We stood on the upstairs balcony and watched a TON of people screeching away, bottoming out, going the wrong way on one way streets, etc. to scatter from the cops.  It took about 4 minutes for a completely full parking lot to completely empty.  It was semi exciting.  We don't know what happend.  I like to think the Santa we saw earlier that night was causing mayhem {we watched several Christmas themed horrors that night}.

We woke up Sunday morning and finish Black Christmas.  Nothing says Sunday morning like a horror flick before breakfast, lol.

It was SOOO fun.  SUPER great night.  Can't wait to do it again.  In December.  Where we watch only Christmas themed scary flicks.  It's gonna be good.  We'll have to start thinking of themes....
