"Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it." ~ Marshall McLuhan

Trenton had his "Sibling Class" this weekend. Baylor Frisco has a ton of free prenatal classes if you're registered to deliver there. Your typical prebirth classes, infant CPR and car seat installations. But they have some kinda cool unique classes like Daddy Boot Camp, which is for men only and they basically go in there and man-talk about whatever. The woman telling us about it couldn't really tell us what goes on in there because it's MEN ONLY. She doesn't know. I'm thinking they go in there complaining about not having sex for God knows how long, whining about boobies being functional and not their toys anymore and dealing with your mopey postpartum wife. Just my thoughts based on most of the men I've known in my lifetime.

Anyhow, one of the classes is a sibling class for 3-5 year olds. GREAT idea. So Trenton and I sauntered up to the hospital Saturday morning, not really knowing what to expect, but promised an hour and a half of learning about being an older sibling. Trenton had a great time. He, of course, made lots of friends immediately. There was about 8 or 10 kids in the class and then all the mommies and daddies. Some people brought grandparents. I kinda felt stupid for being there without another adult. Apparently, this was a huge family affair. But my husband was at home asleep.

So we settled in with a yummy provided breakfast. They must have known Trenton's favorite thing is chocolate milk because there was LOTS of it. :) We made a sign for Baby Durb with Trenton's picture. So the baby will know who his big brother is. :) A week or so after we bring little bro home, I'll probably frame it. He worked so hard on it and continuously showed his progress to me and everyone else within ear shot.

After craft time, we went upstairs to Labor and Delivery and watched a video with some goof (who the kids loved and thought was hilarious) who basically went through how to hold the baby without shaking it to retardation or breaking it into pieces while making silly and obnoxious jokes. The kids all ate it up, though. Then we went and sat in the waiting room and the instructor-type-person talked to all the kids and asked them individually if they were excited or scared or nervous, ect. Then they all talked about their soon to be here younger siblings. It was an interesting conversation to listen to. Then they all wrapped up baby dolls in blankets and praticed sitting and holding them. So cute.

Then we went on the tour of the hospital where mommies have the babies. Trenton and one other child brought their "babies" with them. Poor baby had brain damage by the end and his little hat kept falling off due to severe head jolting. But Trenton held him the whole time and made sure he was wrapped up tight in his little blanket.

After the tour, we went back down and the kids explored a bucket of little baby things on the table. Diapers, wipes, lotions, suction bulb, soap, and even stuff like the umbilical clamp. Then the kids all got a special treat for being so good. A big container of gummy worms!! Trenton couldn't have been happier. It was close to lunch time, but I let him eat 2 worms in the car. Because he was VERY good. Seeing other people's wild and disruptive children made me appreciate my little guy SOOO much more. I am a lucky mommy to have such a good little man. :)

THEN... I had my first baby shower. My mom threw me a family shower. Which was really nice. Small and simple. But pretty. Mom did a good job, especially with the "cake". It was cupcakes put together and frosted like a teddy bear. Super cute... and delicious. So my family showed up and it was fun. Lots of chit chatting and gossiping. :) Of course, presents, too. So Halleluiah!! We have some baby stuff!! We won't have a naked baby that has to sleep on the floor! We still need LOTS of stuff, but my panic and axiety has eased... at least for now.

AND, because I don't feel like doing the expense report I need to do, I'm going to keep rambling. I bought a changing table/dresser off craigslist. Super inexpensive but in great shape. Exactly what I was looking for new, but I didn't want to pay $500. Hurray for being thrifty!

And this is the crib we bought. Brand new. But still pretty inexpensive. Obviously, that's a stock photo and not our bedding. OUR crib is still in the box, downstairs. One day, it will find it's home upstairs and fully assembled. Dare to dream...
