Momiversary

Last night, after a particularly frustrating trip to Home Depot (I get very irritated at that place when things or projects can't work out exactly how I pictured them.. more about that later), we went to Souper Salad for dinner. Then we headed home and immediately put Carter to bed. He fell asleep mid bottle. After that, Scott disappeared. I mean, seriously, he left the house. I was completely confused, because he hadn't said anything before he left. So Trenton and I went out to the back porch to play with some glowstick things he got for Easter and blow bubbles. Scott was home a few minutes later. Apparently, he'd read my mind and wend to pick up marshmallows and something to start a fire with.

We lit up the chimnea just in time for nightfall and roasted marshmallows and laughed at Trenton's rendition of the Ben 10 aliens. Somehow the fame came about that we were hiding the glowsticks in the yard and taking turns finding them. We were out there for hours. The genius of the night was Scott sticking a glowstick in Trenton's back pocket without him noticing. Trenton search forever with the glowstick shining away from the pocket of his jeans. It was hilarious.

We sat out there, playing and Scott and I sipping the wine he'd gotten me for our anniversary. He got me 12 bottles of the shiraz we served at our wedding. :) Perfect anniversary gift. We came in last night a little after 10pm. We sent Trenton to bed and I watched HGTV until I went to sleep.

I awoke with a start at 9am this morning to Trenton yelling from 2 feet away from my face, "Mommy!! Come downstairs quick!!". Then he ran off and left me sitting straight up in bed with a pounding heart and mild confusion about where I was. A shake of my head and I wobbled downstairs.

Happy Mother's day to me!! When I arrived downstairs and wandered into the dining room, a glorious breakfast awaited me. Waffles, sausage, eggs, bacon, fruit (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and rasberries), oj, milk... everything you could possibly want. Yum! A card signed by all my fabulous boys sat in my spot at the table.

After breakfast, Scott wouldn't let me help him clean up, so I played with my little guys and just kinda hung out! I'd already gotten my mother's day gifts. Trenton made me an adorable "I love my mommy because..." book with pictures and a bracelet with beads and charms.

It has been a fantastic day so far. Tonight we're going to eat the top tier of our wedding cake, but that's all I'm going to say. I'll have a full anniversary blog soon, I'm sure. We're going to truly celebrate later, when we can get a sitter. I have plans, but I don't want to spoil them. :)

Happy Mother's Day to my own mom who is fantastic and put up with a TON of shit from me, especially during my tween and teenage years. I love you, Mom! You are THE BEST Mom AND Nana on the planet! Thank you for being you!

Thank you, sweetie. Now, as a mom, do you understand why I say you'll always be my baby girl? I love you tons and I am very blessed having you for a daughter. I am very proud of the young woman, wife and mother that you have become.
